The daughter of Samuel and Mary nee Henderson McDougald of Campbelltown, Argyllshire, Scotland. She married Donald Rankin in 1809 Appin, Invernesshire, Scotland. They had 5 (five), children, Neil, John, Angus, Samuel, and Christina.

"Ann's Will is as follows:-
Colony of New South Wales, County of Wellesley, Native Dog Flat, to wit. I, Ann Rankin of Native Dog Flat, in the County of Wellesley and Colony of New South Wales, Grazier, being of sound mind, memory and understanding, do hereby declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner following. To Wit, I do hereby revoke all former Wills and Testamentary papers, by one, heretofore made, and do hereby appoint my beloved son, Angus Rankin, my sole Executor, for the purposes hereinafter named of this my Will; I give, devise and bequeath unto my son, Neal Rankin, the sum of Fifty pounds sterling of the monies that may be at my Credit with my Bankers at the time of my death. I further direct that all my funeral, Testamentary and just debts shall be first paid by my Executor, out of my Estate. I further give, devise and bequeath unto my son, Angus Rankin, all the rest and residue of my property of whatever description and wheresoever situated for his own sole use and benefit."
