HUMULA.
(From a Correspondent.)
Robert Tresilian, an old and esteemed resident of Murragoldrie, died early on the morning of Saturday, November 9, at his late residence. The deceased was born at Cork, Ireland, 78 years ago. his parents coming out to Australia with him a child in arms. On arrival at Sydney the journey overland thence to the Burra copper mines, S.A., was made in the ususal bullock team conveyance. On the way the family rested at Tarcutta. After spending some years at Burra the richness of Bendigo proved the next attraction, from where some years later Robert with his brother, came to the Adelong goldfields, the former subsequently purchasing Condomblongo Station in that district. Mr. Tresilian was fond of a good horse, and in his early years took much interest in racing, his horse, Dusty Miller, winning the Tumut District Purse in two successive years. The late Mrs. Tresilian, who pre-deceased her husband by eight years, was Catherine Abbot, a daughter of the worthy pioneer of Abbotsford. About 40 years ago the couple settled at Murraguldrie, where, except for five years spent in the Ganmain district, they remained to their death. The family consisted of eight daughters and five sons. The youngest, Frederick, a sergeant in the A.I.F., fell at the Dardanelles, and a grandson, Trooper Frank Bull, of Jerildcrie, in Palestine. The remaining members of the family were with the old gentleman in his last illness, which was only a few weeks duration, and all that loving care could suggest was done for him. Up to his falling ill, he actively attended to tho affairs of his property, and was very frequently in the saddle. Both he and his good wife were held in the highest esteem, and the family followed in their footsteps. The funeral which was very largely attended, took place on Sunday morning, the remains being interred in the Presbyterian portion of Humula Cemetery, the service being read by Rev. T. H. O'Dea, who gave an impressive address at the grave-side. A son-in-law, Trooper G. Young, formerly teacher at Tumut Plains, is also on active service.
