William was the first of eleven children born to William and Annie Myles. He was a great story teller about life on the land, where he had seen lambs carried off by eagles, bushfires, and snakes. He was in a search party when young girls were lost in the bush. While working on the building of the Hampden Bridge he met the O'Neil family and married Annie O'Neil.
William Miles and Annie with son, William, about 1900 went to Yarram, Welshpool, VIC and took up land and clearing the block where John, Charles and Phillis were born. They were burnt out several times and then went to Churchill, Ipswich, QLD where Margaret was born. They were burnt out again and returned to Wagga 1911 to families. |
