Thomas Finn conducted a weighbridge next to his father's hotel Golden Age. He was known for his well sinking ability and also enjoyed prospecting. He was a carpenter by trade.

OBITUARY MR. T. F. FINN The death occurred suddenly last Thursday morning of Mr. Thomas Francis Finn, at the age of 77 years. He was the third son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Finn, well known in Wagga for many years. They built the Golden Age Hotel (where the Duke of Kent Hotel now stands), and the Carrington Hotel (now known as the Great Southern Ho tel), Wagga, which they kept for many years. He was born at Ballarat (V.) in 1863, and was educated in Wagga at the Catholic school under the late Michael Moran. Mr. Finn conducted a weighbridge in Wagga, adjacent to the Golden Age Hotel. He followed various country pursuits and was well known for his ability in well sinking. For a time he conducted a butchering business at Temora in its early days, and he also followed prospecting there. He married Miss Mary Ellen Sturgess, of Batlow, in 1886,and she predeceased him on December 31, 1938, at the age of 74 years. He leaves a family of one son, Mr. George Finn, of Wagga, and one daughter, Mrs. Edward Davis, of North Wagga ; also nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Jeremiah, of Bourke ; and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Egan, of Glenalbyn Station, Bourke. Mr. C. Sturgess, of Wagga, and Mr. T. Sturgess, of Gilmore, are brothers-inlaw, and Mrs. T .Thompson, of Edward-st., Wagga, and Mrs. J. Counahan, of Brisbane, are sistersin-law of the late Mr. Finn. |
