MOONBAH. It is with sincere regret that we record the death of Mr. B. Horan, which took place at the residence of his father in-law, Mr. D. Roach, of Myalla. Deceased was on his road home from St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney. The late Mr. Horan was born in Ireland, and came to Monaro about 45 years ago. Of the late gentleman's good qualities it would indeed be very hard to speak too highly, an there is not a family anywhere about this part that was not at some time or other had good cause to be truly thankful for his kindness when in trouble and distress. He was a good Catholic, a kind father, and a loving husband. The funeral was very largely at- tended, fully 300 persons being present. R.I.P.

COOMA. (from our correspondent ) Death of Mr. Bernard Horan.— It is with most profound regret that I write to record the death of Mr. Bernard Horan, of ' Moonbah.' The sad event took place on November 25th, at the residence of his father-in-law, Mr. D Roach, Rock Vale, Myalla. Deceased had been ailing for some time previous (in fact, had not been enjoying really good health for the past few years), and some months ago he had a rather severe attack of jaundice, and on the advice of some of his friends (and he had many) he went to .St. Vincent's Hospital for treatment, and although he was always most cheerful and bright-spirited, he kept sinking, and on the advice of Dr. Maher he undertook the journey home to die, as he thought, among his family. But during the journey he got very much worse and sank rapidly. 'Barney,' as he was familiarly called by all his acquaintances, had lived at ' Moonbah' for the past 46 years. He was a true type of an Irishman and a Catholic. He was born in County Meath in the year 1838. Thoroughly upright and honest, and always ready to assist anyone in need it is no wonder that a gloom was cast over the district when it became known that Mr. Horan was suffering from an incurable complaint. But everyone had hopes until the news of his death came. He had a most peaceful and happy death. He was well known by almopt all the priests of the diocese, if not personally, by repute, as he was a most prominent figure in all church and charitable affairs. The remains left the residence of Mr. Roach on Tuesday, 27th ult., and the large concourse of people who attended journeyed all day to Buckley's Crossing. Here the remains were placed in the church over night. Next morning the mournful procession started for Moonbah, the number of sorrowing friends rapidly-increasing, buggies and horsemen joining, until Moonbah Cemetery was reached at three o'clock, when the number must have been considerably over 400. At the interment there were many tears shed at the loss of so true and staunch a friend as 'Barney.' Prayers were read at the grave by Mr. George Barry, of Moonbah, who appeared to be deeply affected. Deceased leaves a widow and family of ten (some of whom are grown' up), who have the sincere sympathy of all in this district, and many in other parts.
