After living in England (Yorkshire) for several years David and Margaret Roach sailed from Liverpool (England) on the ship "The Telegraph", arriving in Sydney in 1853 after a six month voyage. The ship record noted that he could read but not write. His wife could both read and write. They spent another three months traveling to Monaro by horse and cart, driven by James Spencer. DAVID was employed as a shepherd by Stewart Ryrie of Jindabyne before settling down as a grazier on "Rock Vale" at Myalla, west of Nimmitabel. MARGARET died there on 21 September 1895 and was buried (24 September) in Cooma cemetery. DAVID died there on 6 January 1907 and was buried (7 January) alongside his wife. His will received probate 20 February 1907.
