Personal Notes:
OBITUARY.
MRS BRIDGET BYRNE.
The Book of Life was closed for one of the oldest identities of the Gundagai district yesterday afternoon, when Mrs. Bridget Byrne, of "Fairview," Muttama, passed to her eternal reward.

With the death of Mrs. Byrne passes the last surviving member of the Quirk family, whose parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Quirk, were the pioneers of the Adjungbilly district, and it was at Adjungbilly on February, 5th, 1852, that Mrs. Byrne was born.

As the years rolled by, the deceased lady married Mr. Charles Byrne, and up till her husband's death 24 years ago, Mrs. Byrne resided at Brungle. The late Mrs. Byrne was a wonderful type of woman, no one ever passed her home at Brungle for they were assured of a great welcome there, no matter what time they called; but above all Mrs. Byrne possessed the Divine attribute of charity, and those that she has helped in many ways are today offering a silent prayer for her Eternal Rest.

For the past eighteen years, Mrs. Byrne has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Albert Last, of "Fairview," Muttama, and during the last six years when her health has been on the decline she has received the loving care and attention of her daughter. Last week Mrs. Byrne took a very bad turn and was admitted to the Gundagai Hospital. It was soon evident that she had passed beyond any human aid, and about 2.30 p.m. yesterday she passed peacefully away.
Four daughters and a son survive: Sister M.Ursula (Convent of Mercy, Murrumburrah), Mrs. Albert Last (Muttama), Mrs. J. M. Grace (Middle Station, Yass), Mrs. Murray (Walwa, Vic.), and Mr. James Byrne (Brungle).

This morning, at 9 a.m., Rev. Fr. Butler, Adm., celebrated a Requiem Mass in St. Patrick's Church, and the funeral cortege left the church this afternoon for the Wagragobilly cemetery, where the interment took place. The Gundagai Independent (NSW : 1928 - 1939) Thursday 18 July 1935 p 5 Article
