Personal Notes:

Charles Henry King was born in Wingecarribee, now Bowral, NSW. He came to Wagga Wagga in his teens. He married Sarah Laney at her father's house in Alfredtown when he was manager of a property Rock View near Malebo. There they raised their family, later moving into Wagga Wagga to be near the business. Charles was a good judge of stock and was a successful dealer and master butcher. His butcher's shop was on the site of what was Nesbitt's store in Baylis Street. He was President of the Newtown Progress Association, involved in the Royal Southern Star Lodge and Patron of the town's Football Club.
