DEATH OF MRS. ALEXANDER Mc DONALD. In the person of the late Mrs. Alexander McDonald, who died at her residence, Nimitybelle, on Tuesday morning last, we have lost our very oldest resident. The deceased lady was 87 years of ago, and came to Australia from lnverness-shire Scotland, when only 11 years old. Almost immediately after landing she came to this district . In 1847 she was married to the late Mr. Alex. McDonald (who predeceased her 14 years ago) at Stanton's Hotel, there being no Catholic Church here in those days, and she had resided in this locality ever since. At one time she and her husband had a business in Nimitybelle, and later on lived at Myalla and Thoco, latterly removing here to end her days. Mrs. McDonald was known far and wide and was highly respected for her genuine good qualities and free hospitality. She was a fine example of the grand old pionoers who have come to this country from the 'bonnie hills of Scotland,' and who have done so much in developing Monaro and peopling it with a good sturdy generation. Mrs. McDonald was the mother of twelve children, of whom eleven are living-Mrs .A. Rankin, of Moonbah; Miss McDonald, of Nimitybelle: Mrs. Horne, of Mudgee; Mrs H. Smith, of Sydney; Mrs. O'Neill, of Bega; and Messrs. Donald, John, Alexander, Dougald, Angus, and Thomas, and the late Archibald Hugh McDonald. There are 52 grand children, 38 great grand children, and one great great grandchild. The poor old lady, notwithstanding her great age, had enjoyed good health until a few years ago, when she began to break up. Medical aid was summoned, but time, not disease, was her ailment, and she eventually passed away as above stated. The funeral took place to the Catholic portion of the new cemetery. To the sorrowing relatives and friends we tender our most sincere sympathy. — Nimitybelle 'News.'
