Personal Notes:
Cornelius McInerney spent about 12 months in New Zealand before arriving in Australia. On arrival he may have joined his sister, Mary at Deniliquin. Mary's husband, Edward Brandon was a coach driver. Cornelius drove coaches throughout western NSW before moving to Tarcutta and operating his own coach runs including mail conveyance from Wagga to Tarcutta.

Suicide.

Information was received in Wagga on Thursday last of the death at Upper Tarcutta, of Mr. Cornelius McInerney, the well known mail con tractor plying between Tarcutta and Wagga. It is stated that the deceas ed was found during the forenoon in the stable of his premises, at Upper Tarcutta, with an awful gash in his throat, from which the blood had flowed very profusely. A razor was found near by.

A magisterial inquiry was con ducted by Mr. Hann, Coroner, con cerning the death of Mr. Cornelius McInerney, the well known mail con tractor on the line between Wagga and Tarcutta, whose lifeless body was found in his stables at Upper Tarcutta, with the throat cut. A razor was found near by. After taking evidence the Coroner entered a evrdict that deceased had ended his life during a period of mental aberration.

The late Mr. McInerney was 65 years of age, and is survived by a grown up family of five sons and five daughters. He had resided at Tarcutta for a number of years, and held the Government mail contract between Wagga and Tarcutta for a lengthy period. There has been con siderable worry attached to the management of the business, owing to the drought conditions having greatly affected the price of horse feed, etc. He was well known throughout Riverina as a coachdriver in the "good old days." He was highly respected for his many good qualities.
