OBITUARY MRS. ELIZABETH FOORD The death occurred at her residence, Merrivale-Street, Tumut, on Saturday last of Mrs. Elizabeth Foord, relict of the late Mr. Francis Foord, who predeceased her about twenty years ago. The late Mrs. Foord, who would have been 89 years of age had she lived until February, was born at Gocup, the second daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Godfrey, and after her marriage came to live in the house in Merrivale Street which was her home until her death. Her only child (Beatrice). Mrs. Daley, of Glebe, has long wanted her mother to make her home in Sydney with her, but Mrs. Foord preferred to remain in familiar surroundings amongst her friends, and it was only at Christmas she agreed to go to Sydney; but Providence decreed otherwise. Considering her years, Mrs. Foord had had remarkably good health and was even able to read without glasses. A fall at her home some weeks ago necessitated her being admitted to the district hospital for a few days, and although she apparently recovered from the effects of the fall she never regained her previous strength and gradually weakened until the end came on Saturday. Mrs. Foord's eldest sister, Mrs. Davis, died in Svdney some two years ago at the age of 88, and the surviving members of her family are Mrs. Will Foord (Bombowlee). Mr. Harry Godfrey (Merrivale-St.. Tumut), Mrs. Walter Hayward (at present in hospital at Young) and Mrs. Gibson (Canley Vale). The funeral took place in the Church of England portion of the Old Cemetery (where land was reserved at the time cf her husband's death) at 5 o'clock on Sunday afternoon. Rev. S. Broadfoot officiated and Mr. C. W. Burt had charge of the arrangements. The pall-bearers were Messrs. H. Godfrey (brother)), Harry and Frank Foord and Gus Godfrey (nep hews), Ron Foord (grand-nephew) and W. Hayward (brother-in-law. A very nice collection of floral tributes covered the casket and one very beautiful wreath from Mrs. Foord's only child was buried with her.
