GRAHAMSTOWN DEATH OF MRS S BALLARD Mrs. Samuel Ballard died at her residence, Grahamstown, on Friday night last with her family gathered around her. Deceased was born at Goulbum 88 years ago. Her maiden name was Rodgers. Her father died a centenarian in Goulburn. Since her marriage to the late Samuel Ballard, who predeceased her by two years, she has lived in the Adelong district, earning the respect of all as a fine old lady, ever ready to help others when help was needed. About a month ago she fell on the verandah, sustaining severe bruises, as a result of which she was laid up during the last fortnight, gradually declining until the end came. There are two sons and three daughters, viz: John Ballard of Grahamstown, Charles of Bethungra, Mrs. Woodward of Lewisham, Mrs. Geaghan of Concord, Mrs McQuilten of Grahamstown. The remains were interred on Sunday in Adelong Cemetery, Rev. Fr. Collins officiating at the graveside. |
