OBITUARY. MRS. EDWARD LYNCH. It is our painful duty to have to chronicle the demise of Mrs. Florence Emily Lockyer Lynch, wife of Mr. Edward Lynch, of Polaris-st, Temora, which sad event took place at the Temora Hospital at 6.30 p.m. last Thursday. The immediate cause of death was the result of weakness of the hearts action on an attack of pleurisy contracted some three months ago. Her four sisters visited her during the latter part of March, when her alarming illness left little hope of recovery, but she lived on until Thursday, part of the time residing, at home and part at the hospital. She leaves a sorrowing husband to face the heavy responsibility of caring for six sons, whose ages range from 16 years to four years, their names being Allan, Cecil, Clarence, Gordon, Gerald, and Keith. The deceased was the eldest daughter of the late Alfred Potter and Mrs. Potter of Tumut, and was married at Tumut 17 years ago. Five years later she went to Temora, where she remained until her death at the age of 47 years. The sisters and brothers are Mrs. A. J. Day (Tumut), Arthur Potter (Canterbury), George Potter (Auburn), Nicholas (Canterbury), Mrs. W. J. Butler (Narrandera ), Mrs. W. McDonald (Tumut) and Mrs. G. T. Butler (Gilmore). Arthur journeyed from Sydney to attend the funeral, and Mrs Day and Mrs. G. Butler left Tumut by car, with Mr. Walter McDonald and Mrs. F. Abbott; the other members of the family did not get word in time to catch the trains. The remains were taken to the Sacred Heart Church on Saturday, where a short requiem service was conducted by Rev. Fr. Laide, formerly of Tumut, before the cortege left for the R.C. portion of the Temora cemetery, where the mortal remains were laid to rest, Rev. Fr. Laide making feeling refer ence to the life of deceased—a good wife and loving mother. Many beautiful wreaths covered the coffin, including a large floral cross from the staff of Thom's store, of which Mr. Lynch was a member. The funeral was conducted in a most impressive manner, members of the Temora H.A.C. B.S. and Guild Society acting as pallbearers, viz : Bros E Owens (secretary), E. Dooner (treasurer), J. Tlmmins (V.P), J. Day, J. Bray and W. Hogan (president). Mr. and Mrs. Lynch were both highly respected in Tumut and Temora.

This public tree has about 60,100 people. Every person in the tree is related by birth or marriage to at least one other person in the tree - no strays. The people in the tree come mainly from four projects.
  1. My family tree. The original project begun about 1998. ID numbers less than about 6,000
  2. Canberra and Queanbeyan Pioneers. The next 30,000 begun about 2004. Sourced almost entirely from HAGSOC's excellent 'Biographical Register of Canberra and Queanbeyan'. The project began when I decided to add siblings, spouses and parents for a relation with an entry in the Register. 12 years work.
  3. Wagga Pioneers. I moved to Wagga and thought I would extend the Queanbeyan project by adding people from Wagga Wagga & District Family History Society's 'Pioneers of Wagga Wagga and District'. About 10,300 people added over about a year.
  4. Tumut Valley Pioneers. During the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, I decided to extend the above projects by adding pioneers of the Tumut Valley. Initial sources were Snowden's 'Pioneers of the Tumut Valley' and 'Relict of ... Lives of Pioneering Women of Tumut and District'. Excellent references published by Tumut Family History Group. I've also added material from newspapers of the time - especially, death records, obituaries and weddings from 'Tumut and Adelong Times'. This project is in its early stage and might take a few years. I plan to extend to the upper Monaro (Adaminaby, Kiandra, Cooma, Jindabyne).
I upload new information to this website about every 3 months. My motivation for these projects is to provide public information for people seeking to trace ancestors and what became of them. Much of the information I provide can be difficult to find.
If you find errors - anything incorrect (dates, places, wrong parents, wrong children), and you have evidence, I would love to fix them. Or, if you have information that would extend my projects, do not hestiate to contact me on the email link below. I do not publish information on living people - which means I'm not much interested in people born after about 1920, and I usually distrust material from before about 1770 without extremely good sources.
