The marriage of Miss Emma Mabel, third daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. French, of Brungle, with Mr. John Joseph McKey, second son of Mr. and Mrs. I. I. McKey, of West Blowering, was celebrated at the Roman Catholic Church, Tumut, on Wednesday last, by the Very Rev. Father Butler. The bride was becomingly attired in ivory white silk, the skirt having a lace panel and the bodice trimmed with lace insertion, and wore a veil and orange blossoms, also a gold bracelet (gift of the bridegroom). She was attended by Misses Ruby and Maud French (sisters), who wore cream cashmere dresses, with lace trimmings. Mr. Paddy McKey acted as best man and Mr. Chas. Morris as groomsman. After the ceremony the bridal party and friends adjourned to Nestor's Woolpack Hotel, where the bride and bridegroom received hearty congratulations and refreshments were partaken of and the usual toast list was gone through, Mr. Frank Morris presiding. The young couple left by the afternoon's train on their honeymoon tour. The bride's travelling dress was of purple serge, cream trimmings, braid and buttons, and she wore a velvet hat to match. At the railway station a large circle of relatives, friends and well wishers assembled, and showered the newly-wedded couple with rice and confetti. Mr. and Mrs. McKey will settle at Goulburn. We wish them every happiness. A large number of presents were received (list not included here). Adelong and Tumut Express and Tumbarumba Post (NSW : 1900 - 1925) Friday 18 August 1911 |
