Personal Notes:
The Tumut and Adelong Times 17 Aopr 1928
MR. FRANK MALONE Sr. Deep regret was heard expressed on all sides when the sad news was heralded throughout the district that Mr. Frank Malone sr., of Tumut Plains, had succumbed on Tuesday, April 3, at 11 a.m., to a paralytic stroke which overcame him at 2 a.m. on the previous Saturday. Deceased was a native of Tumut, 74 years of age, and was a son of the late Edward Malone, who died 68 years ago — one of the earliest pioneers of the district, he coming to Australia in either 1848 or '49. The subject of this obituary married Annie McGrath, daughter of the late Mrs. Cussen, and to the union there was issue of six, two of whom (Stanley and Muriel) predeceased him. A widow survives, also two sons (Frank and Reginald) and two daughters (Mrs. Rochefort and Mrs. O'Reilly) . Deceased lived all his life on Tumut Plains, and at the time of the subdivision of part of the Wermatong Estate purchased one of the farms, on which he died. He was a quiet unassuming man, but of sterling attributes, and his home was where hospitality was dispensed unstintingly. Of the brothers Edward and Timothy only are living, John, Michael and Patrick passing away be fore him. Mrs. M. McInerney sr. is a sister and Mr. Hugh McLary a step-brother. Profound sympathy is felt for the bereaved. The funeral took place on the Wednesday following his demise, the remains being in terred alongside those of his daughter, Muriel, in the Roman Catholic portion of the New Cemetery, Rev. Fr. Shar key, P.P., officiating at the grave, and Messrs Fuller and Burt carrying out the undertaking duties. The pall bearers were Messrs Thos. and Fred. Malone, Frank Henery, Frank Mc Inerney, Michael McInerney and Thos Halloran.
