OBITUARY MR. ISRAEL PIPER The death occurred at the Tumut and District Hospital on Sunday at 8.30 p.m. of Mr. Israel Piper, of Tumut and formerly of Goobragandra Station, at the age of 75 years. The late Mr. Piper was a Tumut native, being a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Piper, of Bombowlee. He followed station pursuits all his life and travelled throughout the State on long droving trips. In his active days he was a noted roughrider and bushman. Thirty-three years ago — in1910 — he became manager of Goobragandra Station, then owned by Mr. Armitage, of Bongolong and Victoria. Deceased ably carried on his position as manager of this property for 30 years, right up until his retirement about three years ago when he moved into Tumut to reside. he married Miss Catherine French, of Brungle, and by whom he is survived, together with one son, Cecil (A.I.F.) and one daughter, Ruth (Mrs. Les Black, Strathfield). One son, Laurence, and one daughter, Nora, predeceased him. There is one brother, Alfred, of Bombowlee, also surviving, whilst another brother, Samuel, and a sister, Dinah (Mrs. J. Morton), of Bombowlee, are deceased. The late Mr. Israel Piper became ill about ten days ago and after admission to hospital was operated on for appendicitis on Friday night last. He gradually failed, however, and passed away on Sunday night, the funeral takes place to-day (Tuesday,), eaving from St. Stephen's Church for the Presbyterian portion of the Tumut New Cemetery.
