OBITUARY MRS GEORGE HOAD At 6.40 a.m. on Saturday morning the death took place at her residence, Fitzroy-street, Tumut, of a lady who had resided here for half a century. We refer to Mrs. Henrietta Hoad, who had reached the age of 76 years. The deceased had been ailing for over two years, and, quite prepared, passed away as stated. The late Mrs. Hoad was the daughter of the late Joseph Himsworth, one of Tumut's early-day wheelwrights and blacksmith's, and was born in Keighly, Yorkshire, England, in the year 1857, coming to Australia more than fifty years ago. Later on she arrived in Tumut, where she married Mr. George John Hoad, a native-born of the district, who followed the saddling trade in Fitzroyst., until his death in 1920. Mrs. Hoad lived in her residence, Fitzroystreet, ever since his demise. She was an unobtrusive, amiable woman, whose main object in life was the welfare of her children. She is survived by the following sons and daughters: — George, Fred, Lorna (Mrs. E. Nuttall), Ettie May (Mrs. Geo. Pearce) and Vera Lila (Mrs. A. Fuller) . One daughter, Essie, predeceased her. The funeral took place on Sunday afternoon, the remains being laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the New Cemetery, Ref. F. W. Rettie officiating. The pall-bearers were Messrs Fred., George (son's), Ted Nuttall, Arthur Fuller (sons-in-law), George (nephew, Junee) and George W. Pearce. Mr. H. W. Baker carried out the funeral arrangements. |
