Personal Notes:
James Cruikshank came with parents from England aged one. When his father was at the Tarcutta diggings, he spent some time in the Randwick Orphanage, and by the time he was nine years, both his parents had died. His farm at Lake Albert was called ‘Gilgai’. There was an interview with James' widow, Matilda on her 100th birthday in the Wagga Wagga Daily Advertiser. Here she recalls her childhood at Gumly.
