| John Remmington Pratt was born at Narellan. He lived with his parents in the Camden area and farmed wheat, then moved with them to Old Junee. He married Ann Hurst at Freeborough Hall in Wagga Wagga. Ann had lived with her father at Oura. John and Ann farmed in the Old Junee area. They had a block at Wallacetown also. John became licensee of the Oura Inn on the Oura-Quella Road, Wagga Wagga in 1876. He was licensee of the "Black Swan" Hotel from 1883-1890 and from 1894 to 1900. John was a Municipal Alderman 1885-1891 for Wagga and Pratt Street in Tolland is named after him. After John's death, Ann apparently continued as a hotel keeper for some years. Their three children, one boy and twin girls all married members of the Mathew family. |
