Personal Notes:
John Bent stood 6'6’tall. He was ‘much given to practical jokes’ and was ‘one of the best sportsmen’. Superintended at Ugoble and Yanco and delivered the mail by horseback from Wagga Wagga to Balranald in 1853. Owned a ‘stud of excellent thoroughbreds’ and entered them in the Wagga races. Bought several town lots in Wagga Wagga.
