Patrick Glasscock. He was born 4 Jul 1893 in Coolac . He enlisted as a Private (Service Number 6509) in the 3rd battalion (21st Reinforcements) on the 22 March 1916. At the time of enlistment Paddy was 5’6” 154 lbs. (around 70kg) with brown eyes, hair and a medium complexion and occupation was labourer. He was killed the 4th October 1917 in Belgium at the 3 rd Battle of Ypres. As his body is lost he may have been blown up at some other point on the battlefield or his grave subsequently blown up. His name is on the Menin Gate for all the 55,000 allied soldiers with no known grave. He never married. |
