Mr Alexander Scott, of the firm of
Messrs Matthew Lang and Co. wine
and spirit merchants, died on June 15
as the result of an apoplectic seizure
which occurred some days previous
Mr Scott was 67 years of age.

will be interred in the Boroondara Cemetery

In the Colony of Victoria, Licensed Victualler
Deceased, the Wife of Samuel Leo Spooner, of the City of
Melbourne, Gentleman -Notice is hereby given, that
after the expiration of fourteen days from the date of the
publication hereof an application will be made to the
Supreme Court of the colony of Victoria, in its Probate
jurisdiction, that PROBATE of the LAST WILL and
TESTAMENT of Agnes Spooner, the abovenamed deceased,

COUNTY COURT.
In the Count Court to-day before His
Honor Judge Cope, an action of Lang v.
Lawrence was heard in which Messrs Matthew
Lang and Alexander Scott, of Collins-
street went, trading as M. Lang
and Co, wine and spirit merchants
sued Captain Charles Lawrence, of the ship
Thyatirs, for 105 damages, for loss of and
damage to quantities of brandy and
beer, shipped in London on board the
Thyatira, and consigned to the plaintiffs.
The brandy and beer were consigned to Lang
and Co. by Mesers Gilbert J. McCaul and Co.,
and upon their arrival here it was found
that during the voyages holes had been
made in some of the casks and hogsheads
and from 10 to 14 gallons of brandy and from
30 to 45 gallons of beer taken from the vessels,
the holes being filled with spiles of soft wood
such as brewers or distillers never
use for the purpose. …..

NSW Gazette 10 Aug 1886
NOTICE is hereby given that the partnership heretofore
existing between the undersigned, in the business of sheep
farmers, on Whittabranah Station, in the Albert District of
New South Wales, under the style of " Scott Bros. & Co.," is
dissolved, as from this date, so far as regards the undersigned
Alexander Scott. All debts due to or by the late firm will be
received or paid by the continuing partners.—Dated this 7th
day of June, 1886.

THE. MAJOR AND THE EIGHT HOURS SYSTEM
A deputation from the aerated water employs
attended to point out that the Mayor
of Melbourne (Mr Matthew Lang who had
been invited by the old pioneers to lay the
foundation stone of the Eight Hours Monu
ment was a partner with Mr Alexander
Scott trading as P G Dixon and Co a
firm which strongly opposed the eight hours
system in their particular trade This firm
had not only refused to concede the eight
hours to their men, but had also refused to
allow them to be members of any union
whatever
- Cr Lang declined the offer

Act, 1902 " (consolidating the Water Rights Act, 1896, it
is hereby notified that the following report has been presented
to me regarding the result of an inquiry into the application
of Jane Lang, Alexander Scott, Trustees of the late Matthew
Lang, and Alexander Scott, for a license under Section 10 of the
said Act, in respect of an Overshot Dam, parish of Milparinka,
county of Evelyn.

Whereas on the 9th day of November, 1903, it became a
matter for investigation before us as to an application by Jane
Lang, Alexander Scott, Trustees of the late Matthew Lang, and

Bights Act, 1902, in respect of an Overshot dam situated on
Mount Poole Pastoral Holding, County of Evelyn, and having
taken evidence and inquired into the said matter, we recom
mend that the application be granted.
Given under our Hands, at the Court House at Milparinka,
in the State of New South Wales, this 9th day of
November, 1903.
