HUGHES.—On the 23rd July, at the residence of
his son-in-law, G. J. Boulter, Richmond, Don
River, near Bowen, Mr. John Hughes, one of
our very earliest colonists, and well known in
Brisbane and Bowen, in his 77th year.

Eliza is the fifth child of the 11 that were born. 8 of these childern immigrated to Australia with their parents, John and Catherine nee Madeley, Hughes. They arrived at Moreton Bay, Queensland on a ship called, `Florentia`, 29 April, 1853. One child, Lydia Caroline, died in Ruabon, Denbigshire, Wales when she was 2 yrs old. 3 more siblings were born in Warwick, Queensland, after they immigrated here in Queensland, Australia, They were, Elizabeth Ann, Agnes and an Unnamed child. Eliza Hughes was born in February 25th,1844 at Ruabon, Denbigh,Wales. Her parents were John & Catherine Hughes nee Madeley. Eliza was christened on the same day as her birth. / Eliza married Thomas Austin at Goodiwindi on December 24th 1863. They had 10/11 children whose names were: 1.
