Hello Geoff,
I thought I should let you know of your erroneous information regarding the death year of Elizabeth EASTON. Elizabeth (one of my 4 x great grandmothers) died & was buried on 28 May 1828 (as Elizabeth WINTERS) at age 43 years. Her burial service was performed in the Parish of St. Philip's, Sydney by William Cowper. She was living in Sydney at the time. After her 'departure' from the household of George HOWE, Elizabeth married James WINTER on 18 Aug 1819 at St. Philip's, Sydney. Elizabeth & James had 2 daughters - Elizabeth (1821 - 1901) & Ann (1823 - 1902). Variants of Elizabeth's family name - HASTINGS, HASTEN, EASTON, EASTEN. I thought I had already informed you (or was it Helen) that it is highly unlikely that Leah BAYNE was the spouse of Thomas Terry HOWE (son of George HOWE & Elizabeth HASTINGS/HASTEN/EASTON/EASTEN), as according to the Campbelltown District Family History Society "Campbelltown Pioneer Register" The Thomas HOWE who married Leah BAYNE was born 27 Oct 1804 in Dumfries, Scotland to William HOWE & Mary TWENTYMAN. Thomas arrived (Free) on 22 Jul 1816 onboard the "Atlas", but maybe I hadn't. Also: The Edward LEE who married Sarah Risden HOWE (dau of George HOWE & Elizabeth HASTINGS/HASTEN/EASTON/EASTEN) in 1828, died in 1842 in Lithuania. The widow Sarah then married her brother-in-law Frederick LEE. The Maria BLOODWORTH who married James BLOODWORTH & was the mother of Sarah BLOODWORTH (spouse of Robert HOWE) was the daughter of William LEE & Sarah SMITH. Maria died 19 May 1895. Regards, Joy Jorgensen Court Jul 1798 • Maidstone, Kent, England Elizabeth was tried at the Maidstone Assizes on July 1798, and sentenced to transportation beyond the seas for seven years for entering a dwelling house while the persons were therein and stealing goods worth three shillings and threepence |
