MALCON— SOPER. One of the prettiest weddings seen in Atherton for some considerable time was celebrated oh August 6, by the Rev. Alsop, the contracting parties being Gor don, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Malcom, Atherton, to Marjorie, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Soper, Ather ton. The bride, who looked exceedingly sweet, entered the church on the arm of her father, to the strains of the 'Wedding March, played by Mrs. Mc Night, gowned in an ivory bridal satin ankle length frock with set in godets of tiny frills, bodice tight fitting, re lieved with tiny frills, her bridal wreath and veil forming a train, and kindly lent by her aunt, competed a charming ensemble; she carried a beauti ful sheaf of Arum lilies. Her only bridesmaid, Miss Olga Soper, sister of the bride, looked charming in a blue satin beaute ankle length frock skirt set in-godets and relieved with tiny bows. Her tulle hair, dress, completed a dainty outfit; she carried a bouquet of blue lupins, tied with a beautiful bow. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr. J. Peates, uncle of the bride groom. After the wedding, the parties motored to the bridegroom's residence, where a beautiful breakfast was served. Some eighty guests sat down. The tables were decorated with flowers. In the centre was a three-tier cake made and presented by the bride's father. Mr. Soper. The decorations were carried out | in silver and a silver vase of flowers formed the top ornament. After the loyal toast, Mr. Alsop proposed the toast of tlie bride, the bridegroom responding. After other toasts, musical items were rendered. The bride and bridegroom left for Double Island where the honeymoon will be spent, the bride traveling in a navy blue satin coat and skirt with a navy blue hat to match. Mr. and Mrs. Malcom were the recipients, of some valuable presents, including several cheques. . The bride and bridesmaid's dresses were made by Mrs. W. Eakin ; (Mareeba), aunt of the bride. |
