Mrs. Sarah Couche, 65, and Mrs. A. M. McPherson were alighting from a bus when they were struck by a motor car which was coming in the opposite direction. Both ladies were knocked down. Mrs. Couche sustained fractures to both legs, lacerated wounds to the chin and nose, and severe shock, and Mrs. McPherson received a severe large lacerated wound, with a compound fracture to the left lower jaw, severe laceration to the right knee, fractured left wrist and severe injuries to the right hip and probable internal injuries and severe shock. Both ladies were hurried by Ambulance to hospital, where Mrs. McPherson died later. Deceased was 32 years, and she leaves a husband and four children. She is a daughter of Mrs. Couche.

It is absolutely impossible for a Loyalist to obtain work in Southern Ireland."'- Mr. R. J; Couche, who ar rived in Brisbane with his wife and five children, from 11/2 years to 14 years of age, by the Aberdeen liner Diogenes, spoke the foregoing words in an inter view with a representative of the Press. During the occupation of Ireland by British troops, soldiers were billeted on the farm of Mr. Couche, at the Glen of Aherlow, near Tlppernry. When the troops left, the Republicans, follow ing out their policy of destroying all the British barracks in Ireland, classed Mr. Couche's home as a "barrack," and accordingly burnt it down. When he moved into the rectory of Cren Beg, the Republicans visited him one night, and asked to stop at the rectory, which he refused to let them do. They threat ened to burn the rectory, and after Mr. Couche and his family left, they burnt it down. An ambush occurred close to his home, and two men were killed. At this stage, Mr. Couche decided to leave Ireland, and on being nominated by re latives at Mourilyan, set out for Austra lia. He intends to work in the sugar mills at Mourilyan.
