DEATH
PESCOTT.-On the 28th August, at his residence, 14 McKillop-street, Geelong, Thomas the beloved husband of Mary Pescott, in his 83rd year.

Geelong Advertiser 6 Sept 1910
THE LATE MR. T. PESCOTT.
At the memorial service on Sunday evening at Noble-street Church for the late Mr. Thos. Pescott, a sketch, of his life was given by the Rev. R. Kelly. In the course of his remarks he said: "The fathers and founders of Chilwell Methodism are passing away; very few links that connect the church of the present with that of 50 years ago remain. In the recent departure of Mr. Thos. Pescott we have said farewell to one who for half a century was identified with it in membership, and took his full share of labor and responsibility therewith. Mr. Pescott was born at Newcastle-on Tyne, England, on February 2nd, 1828: he married in the year 1852, and arrived at Geelong on November 27th, 1857. He settled at Chilwell, and resided in the neighbourhood until his death.
Though coming from a strong hold of Methodism in the old country he was brought up in the Anglican Church, and served in his boyhood as a chorister. Losing his father when he was a lad of 14, he was indebted to his mother for carefully guarding his religious interests. Still he attained the years of man hood without having reached a real spiritual crisis. He often referred to his obligations to the late Mr. Thomas Peters, and traced his awakening to a need of the higher things to the influence of that stalwart Christian man. The visit of the world-renowned evangel list; the Rev. William Taylor, of California, also seems to have had much to do with the establishment of our friend's Christian life. His interest in the Church was further strengthened by the connection with it of his own children, who in those early days drew him to the house of God. For many years he held office as a trustee, and in other ways rendered valuable service to the cause, bringing his business knowledge and experience to bear for its advantage. He gave much attention to the upbringing of his family in Christian principles with the result that they are to-day foremost in every good work."Mr. Pescott was known in the world of trade and commerce as a man of strict integrity, hon est in all his dealings, and whose word was his bond. He lived to a good old age, and when his final sickness came it found him ready to accept his Master's will, exhibiting the same hope and confidence, that had characterised his long and useful Christian life.

In Memoriam. MR JOSEPH PESCOTT. The Spring-road Church, Malvern, has suffered a severe loss in the removal by death of Mr T Pescott. A largely attended memorial service was conducted by the Rev. G. R. Godbehear on Sunday evening, August 12th. We extract the following from the notice which was read; The late Mr. Joseph Pescott, who was born on October 20th, 1869, was the son of Mr. Thomas Pescott, who had an unbroken record of membership with the Noble-st. .Methodist church Chilwell. of 54 years. His aged mother, who still survives him, has been a member of the same church for 60 years. At the age of nineteen he left Geelong to fill a position in Melbourne, and at once joined the church and Sunday school at Cecil-street, where he remained until his removal to Malvern, on the occasion of his marriage, in 1896. He and his wife at once connected themselves with Spring-road Church. For the past 21 years he has been amongst us as one that served, and in all he did, particularly in his capacity as a choir leader and trustee, he rendered most efficient service. His fine, manly, Christian character endeared him to all. His large, loving heart especially held a place for young people, with whom he was always a great favourite. His long illness was borne with wonderful patience and cheerfulness, and the call of the Master came to a heart prepared by humble faith in the Lord Jesus for an abundant entrance into the 'Father's house.' The sermon appropriate to the occasion was based on Psalm 1: 1-2: 'Blessed is the man whose delight is in the law of the Lord.'
