Before his retirement in 1933 he was secretary of the Council of Agricultural Education for 18 years, and then represented the Royal Ag- ricultural Society on the council until 1944. Mr Purvis was aged 80. He is sur- vived by one daughter. The funeral will leave the parlours of J. Monkhouse & Son, Carpenter st, Brighton, at 3.15pm today for Boroondara Cemetery.
