One of the oldest residents of Gym
pie, Mr. Wyatt W. Stockden, died on
February 1 aged 82 years. Mr. Stock
den arrived in Gympie in 1868, shortly
after the discovery of the goldfield. He
visited the Palmer and Croydon gold-
fields when they broke out, returning
to Gympie after each visit. He car-
ried on business as a carrier and tim
ber-getter for many years, but latterly
lived quietly on his farm at Eel Creek,
near Gympie. His wife predeceased
him 31 years ago. He is survived by
three sons and three daughters, 27
grandchildren, and three great grand
children!

You can only have one Mother,
Cherish her and love her while you

For you'll never know how much you'll
miss her,
Until she is called away.
Forever in our thoughts.
