OBITUARY MRS WILLIAM HIBBENS. On Thursday last, after ..... years of suffering from...... that rendered her quite ....., Ann Laura, wife of the late William Hibbens (who died on Nov. ?, 1914) passed quietly away at her daughter's (Mrs. J. Costello's) residence, Cootamundra, whither she went three weeks ago in the hope that change of scene would be a benefit. She greatly enjoyed the change, but the call came, despite kindness, nursing and attention, and the skill of Dr. Florance, her medical adviser, and at the age of 74 years she paaaed away, the cause of death being senile decay and heart failure. The deceased was the daughter of Mr. A. Wells, of Moss Vale, where she was born on 8th May, 1844. About 1862, she came to Tumut and entered the employ of the late Mr. James Hibbens sr, of Bombowlee. From there she married and spent the rest of her life on a suburban area on the frontage to the stock route, Tumut to Lacmalac, about 2¼ miles from town. No wife could have proved a better helpmate to her husband, or more devoted to the care and upbringing of her children, while health permitted her, her subsequent worry being the inability to help even herself. She was a kindhearted and estimable neighbor, and the mother of four of as stalwart sons as can be found in the State, viz: William (a private, who is a returned soldier since January 1, 1918), Frederick (just arrived from England, where he was a munition worker), George (Tumut) and James (Wee Waa), and five daughters, viz : Mrs. J. Jemmett (Coota), Mrs. J. Doherty (Wee Waa), Mrs. L. Reynolds (Queensland), and Mesdames McDonald and J. Costello (Coota). These are left to mourn the loss of a much loved and affectionate mother, the last four years of whose life was spent under the care of her son George. Her remains were brought by train on Saturday to Tumut, where they were conveyed by undertaker Jas Elphick to the Church of England portion of the new burying ground. The pallbearers were Messrs C. McGrath, Jas Edgar, James Murray jr, Thomas McGrath and James McGrath. Rev. C. E. Burgess officiated at the grave. We tender the bereaved ones our deepest condolence.r
