The Tumut and Adelong Times 4 Oct 1932
OBITUARY JOSEPH NATHAN JEMMETT The death occurred last Wednesday, at 10 a.m., of Joseph Nathan Jemmett (84), of Hovell-street, Cootamundra. Deceased, who is a brother of Mrs Walter Hoad sr., has been in Cootamundra for many years, but was formerly in the Yarrangobilly district. He was noted for the fact that even on the coldest days he would not wear a coat. In short, he was of the very hardy sort. His wife survives, but an invalid, aged 67. Two sons died— one as an infant, and the other succumbed to injuries received on his way home from the war, in the train at Seymour (Vic). The surviving family comprises Arthur, Lithgow; Mrs T. Bateman, Hay; Mrs J. G. Allen, Bowraville ; William, Cootamundra; Mrs H. Greig, Cootamundra ; and Mrs T. Chapman, Cootamundra. Deceased was highly esteemed both in Cootamundra and in the Tumut district, being well known in these parts. He was greatly interested in mining, and fond of horses, being a great bush rider in his young days. The later-day hobby was gardening. The remains were laid to rest on Thursday in the Church of England portion of the Cootamundra Cemetery.
