Thomas George Large 1850, at one time either was granted or leased 200 acres of Yabtree but yielded it in 1869. When he purchased ten shares in The Crown of Gold Reef Gold Mining Co in 1872, Thomas' address was shown as Gundagai.
At Bethungra on 16 Feb 1885 he wed Georgina Alice, born in 1862 at Kurrajong, the daughter of Catherine and George PLUNKETT. The marriage produced William G 1886, Frederick C P 1888 and Cyril John born at Young on 20 Dec 1893. It is odd that details of Cyril's birth were not registered until 04 Jul 1910, the informant being his mother, Georgina Alice Large of Tamworth, NSW. Father Thomas' occupation at the time of Cyril's birth was a 'printer'. Perhaps he was trained on the Gundagai Times by his brother-in-law, James Elworthy. |
