Personal Notes: |
Thomas and Caroline McAlister After leaving Mingay the McAlister family moved to a farm on the Gilmore Creek which years later was known as "Korn's farm". Their son, William Henry McAlister was born there on 20 May 1838 and his birth was recorded in the Church of England Baptismal Register at Yass.
Leaving Gilmore the family moved to a farm at Tumut Plains where another son, Robert was born in 1842. Some time after the birth of Robert the father acquired the Grazing Run, known as “Wereboldera” from Frederick Wheeler Vyner. The Sydney Morning Herald of 12 October 1848 records that Thomas McAlister was the holder of this Run No. 113 which comprised 12,800 acres. A map of the County of Wynyard filed in the Department. of Lands and dated 1861 shows that at that time Thomas McAlister had converted 649 acres of this run into freehold. This land comprised the best portions of “Wereboldera” and "Westwood". Thomas and Caroline McAlister were the forebears of many worthy pioneers of the district. For over 120 years “Wereboldera” has remained in the ownership of a McAlister. |

If you find errors - anything incorrect (dates, places, wrong parents, wrong children), and you have evidence, I would love to fix them. Or, if you have information that would extend my projects, do not hestiate to contact me on the email link below. I do not publish information on living people - which means I'm not much interested in people born after about 1920, and I usually distrust material from before about 1770 without extremely good sources. g.bell@bigpond.net.au When you click the mail address abouve, if it does not open your email app, copy the address on the screen.
