OBITUARY MRS. ELIZABETH BRIDLE The death occurred at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. E. R. McGruer, "Bonnie Doon," Brungle, on Saturday morning last at 1 a.m. of yet another old identity and a native of the Tumut district in the person of Mrs. Elizabeth Caroline Bridle, relict of the late Mr. Edward G. Bridle of Bombowlee, at the advanced age of 84 years. The late Mrs. Bridle, who was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wilkinson of Springfield, married the late Mr. E. G. Bridle, of Tumut, and they spent the active part of their lives on properties at Brungle and Bombowlee. "Rosevale," Bombowlee, was their home for the greater portion. After Mr. Bridle's retirement they went to Sydney to reside and it was there that Mr. Bridle was tragically killed in a car accident fourteen years ago. Since then the late Mrs. Bridle spent the greater part of her time with the respective members of her family. After some months at Corryong she came over to Tumut to stay with her daughter, Mrs. McGruer, at Brungle — about two months ago. She had been in ill-health for some time and had been failing fast for the past month. She passed away peacefully in the presence of six of her family of ten children, all of whom survive. The family is: Leslie Wilkinson (Ladysmith), Wallace Edwin (West Australia), Edwin William (Junee), Jack Wilkinson (Alfredtown), Dulcie Maud (Mrs. D. Harris), Corryong), Ella Elizabeth (Mrs. C. A. Allen), Dulwich Hill, Ada Aveniz (Mrs. A. S. Lewis), Kingsford, Ivy Jean (Mrs. L. Webb, Manly, Elsa Rose (Mrs. D. McGruer), Brungle, and Elizabeth Caroline (Mrs. J. McLenban ), Kensington. There is also one brother, Mr. Harry Wilkinson, of Summer Hill, and one step-brother, Mr. Roley Dodd, of Sydney, surviving. One brother, Mr. Edward Wilkinson, predeceased her. The late Mrs. Bridle was a great worker for her church in her active days and for all charitable organisations. On Saturday the coffined remains were taken to Sydney, where they were laid to rest beside those of her late husband in the Church of England portion of Randwick Cemetery yesterday morning. Prior to the departure a short service was conducted at"Bonnie Doon" by Rev. S. Broadfoot. |
