>Walter Hoad (born 1856) Walter Hoad, the third son of George Hoad, married Olieve Brownlie in 1880. Olieve’s father constructed the Telegraph
Line from Adelong Crossing (now Tumblong) to Tumut and on to Kiandra in 18908. Walter Hoad (like his father) was a stonemason and worked on the construction of the Catholic Church at Tumut prior to 1878. Walter and Olieve reared a family of ten; - Leo James Alexander Hoad born 1881, (married Alice Hewitt), - Olieve Hoad born 1884 (married John Leonard), - Muriel Hoad born 1884 (married John A. Brown), - Gertrude Hoad born 1885 (married George Day), - Eva Hoad (married Joseph Taylor). - Sylvia H.M. Hoad born 1892 (marmed F. Barnett, then later A. Power), - Walter Hoad Jnr. born 1895 (married (Ella Mason, then later S. Monk), - Gladys Hoad (married Roland Slade), - Edna Hoad born 1888 (married Roy Cohen), - Ruth Hoad born 1900 (did not marry). In 1891 Walter Hoad worked at Yarrangobilly Caves. From 1904 to 1919 he was caretaker when he directed and supervised the development of the caves area.
