The Tumut and Adelong Times 11 Apr 1933
OBITUARY MRS. W. J. TAYLOR News of the sad, though not altogether unexpected, death of Mrs. Taylor, came through to Adelong on Tuesday morning last. The day previously she was very low, and members of her family were sent for. Some twelve months ago she was not at all well, and went to Sydney in the hope that a change would do her good. However, it was not to be, and, instead of improving, she gradually weakened, and heart trouble made it impossible for her to travel, and she remained in Sydney under doctor's instructions during the whole of that time. Her husband and several members of the family were with her as well. The remains were brought to Adelong and interred in the local cemetery on Wednesday last, Rev. Arnold W. Harris conducting the last sad rites. The late Mrs. Taylor was one of the best known ladies of this district, having lived her 73 years either in Tumut or Adelong. Before her marriage to Mr. W. J. Taylor, she was a Miss Howard, and her brother still lives in Tumut district. Everyone loved her for her gentle manner and kind and endearing ways; she was kindness itself, an ardent lover of her church, and a wonderful friend to many, as well as being a loving wife and mother. During her lifetime she never made an enemy and the whole district mourns the loss of its best citizens. The children of the union left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother are: Miss Ethel (Adelong), Fred. (Culcairn), Mrs. Bannan (Marrickville), Arthur and Harold (Adelong), Mrs F. A. Davis (Adelong) and Cecil (Tumut) . |
