Personal Notes:
WEDDING
HALLORAN— QUILTY
Adjungbilly was en fete on Saturday last on the occasion of the wedding of Mr. James Patrick Halloran, youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Halloran, of "Lacmalac Vale," Lacmalac, and Miss Gertrude Mary Quilty, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Quilty, of Adjungbilly. The marriage was solemnised by very Rev. Dean J. Sharkey, P.P., followed by Nuptial Mass. The Catholic Church, Adjungbilly, was very beautifully decorated for the ceremony by Mrs. F. Graham and Mrs. McCullock, white spring blossoms and masses of deep pink hyacinths and cream stocks forming the color scheme. The bride was given away by her father and was dressed in white embossed taffeta with long train, cut tulle veil and pearl coronet, and carried a bouquet of deep cream stocks and carnations. The matron of honour was Mrs. Fred Barton (sister of the bride), in pleated blue chiffon, tulle head dress, to match, held in place by a coronet of blue flowers, and carrying a bouquet of burgundy stocks and blue iris. The diminutive train-bearer, Peg Barton, the daughter of the matron of honor, was in dainty blue pleated dress of chiffon, a replica of her mother's. The best man was Mr. Rob. Halloran (bridegroom's brother). The guests were received at the local hall by Mrs. A. C. Macadam (sister of the bridegroom) dressed in tailored grey costume with navy accessories and carrying a bouquet of violets and pansies, and the matron of honour, Mrs. Barton (in the absence of the bride's mother, who was unable to be present she being still incapacitated as a result of the accident which befell her some months ago). The wedding breakfast was a feast of the gods, a 3-tiered wedding cake the handiwork of Mrs. F. Graham, and iced by Mr. V. P. Collins (Times Bakery) being conspicuous before the bridal pair. The toast of the 'Bride and Groom' was proposed by Very Rev. Dean Sharkey, who spoke of his long association with the two families who had that day been joined in matrimony. Of them it could be truly said that they held an honoured place in the community and he felt sure that the good name would be perpetuated by the young couple and he congratulated them on the step they had taken. It was an ideal union of two grand old families. Responded to by the 'groom, who proposed the health of "The Matron of Honor," to which the best man, Mr. R. Halloran replied. "The Parents of the Bride'' and "The Family of the Bridegroom" was proposed by Mr. F. Barton and responded to by the bride's father (Mr. E. Quilty), who spoke of his happiness which made it impossible for him to express in words what he felt. The Chairman's health was then proposed by Mr. T. Irvine, and in his reply Dean Sharkey said he would like to take the opportunity of thanking Mrs. F. Graham for all she had done to make the ceremony and function such a wonderful success. Her kindness and generosity were well known, and he felt that the bride would wish him to make reference to all the work and kind ness displayed by Mrs. Graham on this happy occasion. Mr. Graham briefly responded on behalf of his wife, saying that it was their pleasure to take an active part on the occasion of the marriage of two such intimate friends and families, and they wished the young couple the joys of married bliss. The honeymoon is being spent on a motor tour of the South Coast. The bride travelled in a brown bird's-eye tweed suit, with toning accessories and musquash coat. Their future home will be at Lacmalac, on the bridegroom's property there.
