James's history from http://monaropioneers.com/TNG/
"Bill Jocelyn asserts that William and James Kiss were the same person and the records appear to confirm this fact. He also believes that James Ruse and James Kiss Snr. had a joint interest in William Kiss.
According to the baptismal records William was baptised by Father McInroe on the 14th May 1834. The records state that he was 28 years of age.
According to the General Muster records in 1822, William Kiss is listed as born in the colony, occupation being labourer and residing at Windsor. From 1823 to 1825 he was employed by Daniel Smallwood of Windsor.
In about 1822 William began a relationship with Ann Henshaw, daughter of Simon Freebody, and she had a child while she was still nominally partnering James Oldfield, but thought to have been fathered by William. On the 31st March 1826, at the Windsor Quarter Sessions, William and Ann were found guilty of assault and fined one shilling and discharged. Later in 1826, William was again convicted of assault and sentenced to 3 months gaol. After his release, he went to live with and work for William Hounslow, an old friend of the Ruse family. In the 1828 Census statistics, he is listed as aged 25 and employed as a labourer by William Hounslow at Cornwallis.
By 1833 he had settled down and married the daughter of an Irish convict, Elizabeth Kennedy. Elizabeth converted William and the others of the Ruse family, to Catholicism and bore him 8 children. He died in 1853, aged 46. He was buried under his original name of James Kiss.
He married Elizabeth Kennedy in 1832 in Nimmitabel, New South Wales. "
