The Tumut and Adelong Times 5 Oct 1926
OBITUARY MRS. J. THEO. LAMPE. There passed peacefully away, at Nurse Emery's Private nospital, Tumut at 10 o'clock yesterday morning, Mrs. Margaret Lampe, wife of Mr. T. Theodore Lampe, of Talbingo, at the age of 64 years. Deceased, who was the only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Bridle, of "Rosevale," Bombowlee, had been ailing for some time, and about two months ago underwent an operation at St. Luke's Private Hospital, Darlingliurst, but without receiving the expected relief. She arrived in Tumut later, and entered Nurse Emery's Private Hospital, where she was treated till the last by Drs. Browne and Clouston with no possible hope of recovery from the onset. The subject of this obituary had the chief endearing characteristics of the Bridle family and was highly esteemed and loved by all with whom she became friendly. She lived in the Tumut district all her life, and. her chief concern was the welfare of her husband and family. After her marriage she lived with her husband at Talbingo, the home of the Lampes for many years previous, the parents of her husband having taken up a large tract of country there in the early days, which reverted to the sons and daughters, and ultimately became the property of the brothers, who disposed of it in recent years, Mr. Theo Lampe still remaining as manager for the new proprietors. For some days prior to the end deceased would be bordering on eternity and would rally and recognise all around her. One of these rallies occurred on Sunday night, when her husband and two sons and one daughter (Miss Pearl) were present at the bedside and recognised by her. After that she lapsed into unconsciousness, and death supervened at 10 yesterday morning. A sorrowing husband, two sons (Victor, of Wyalong, and Arthur of Tumut) and two daughters (Mrs. W. Bryden, of Sydney, and Miss Pearl, of Talbingo) and four brothers (Edward, Harry, Arthur and John) are left to mourn a loving wife, a devoted mother and an affectionate sister. Mr W. H. Bridle, the elder brother, predeceased her. The remains are to be laid to rest in the Tumut Cemetery today. |
