AN IDLE WOMAN'S DIARY. SYDNEY, May 22 "Sing, hey! the gallant doctor that you are," should have been sung as H.M.S. Sealark put off for the Solomon Islands last week, and H.M.S, Fantome steered for the North-west Coast of Australia, and "Sing, ho! the merry maiden, and the lur," for Staff-surgeon Cecil Robin- son, of the Sealark, has "captured the af- fections" of Miss Grace Acheson, one of the belles of Darling Point, and Dr. Ave- ling, of H.M.S. Fantome, has received, the promise of pretty Miss Doris Saller, of Hobart, whose sister married a lieuten- ant on board the same vessel, during her last commission. The Robinson - Acheson alliance is a most interesting one. "'He" is the son of an Irish doctor, who was the son of that Captain Roblnson, R.N., who accompanied the Franklyn expedition. He is the cham pion golfer, tennis player, and Badminton player of the fleet, and is over sIx feet two. One of his sisters is married to a tea-planter in Calcutta, the other is about to marry Mr. Buller, brother of the millionaire, who married Miss Lily Elsle. "She" is the only child of the late Robert Hugh Brabazon Acheson, of county Waterford, Ireland, a young member, of the Earl of Gosford's family, her mother being Miss Plunkett, daughter of W. N. Plunkett, for 40 years Under-secretary of Justice in New South Wales. Wollerang, one of the first five houses built at Darl ing Polint, belongs to the Plunkett family. Mrs. and Miss Acheson now lived there, but will not do so after this year, as Miss Acheson, when married, will probably live in England. The Sealark is to be away for seven months, the Fantome about five. Miss Saller is staying with Dr. and Mrs. Asher, of Cooyong, Edge cliff-road. Dr. Robinson has already pick ed his best man. He is Lieutenant Knowles, R,N. who has already officiated at the wedding of Lieutenant MaxwelI R.N., to Miss Leeper. |
