The Minister for Transport, Mr W. F. Sheahan, was in Yass yesterday. He flew to Canberra on his way to Tumut to attend the funeral of his cousin, Mr. Allan J. Downing, who was a prominent citizen of Tumut. Mr. Downing, who died in his sleep on Tuesday, aged 52 years, was a well known stock and station agent and for years was treasurer of the Tumut Turf Club. He and
Mr. Sheahan were close friends from boyhood, and were in the A.I.F. together abroad during
World War I.
