| - Notes: Ellenor 09 July 1767 at Shillingford, wed Richard BOWCHER on 07 Aug 1786 at
Kenton and died on 20 Oct 1826 at Alphington. They had three sons and five daughters, all baptised at Kenton. Ellenor was quite restrained naming their sonsand older girls but two of the younger ones were given the quaint old Biblical names of Bathsheba and Jehoshabeth! An event of great significance to this family took place at Upton Pyne on 15 Sep 1805 when widowed John Second married Elizabeth Townsend, younger sister of Deborah?, wife of Richard Bowcher. The sisters appeared to be capable business women. After Richard's death Deborah? took over ownership of his lands, then when John died Elizabeth efficiently ran his business. |

| - Notes: Now we come to the links between Bowchers and Townsends. At Kenton on 07
Aug 1786 the eldest Bowcher son RICHARD 12 Jun 1760 wed Eleanor Townsend baptised 09 Jul1767. They had five girls and three sons, all of whom were baptised at Kenton. Nothing more than a baptismal date was found for the first son William 16 Feb 1787, so possibly he did not survive. |
