Personal Notes: |
George was born in Esk and went to school at Moore. On leaving, he joined his elder brother, Albert, and their father in managing "Glen Hills". He became something ofan authority on cattle and consequently became entrusted with the responsibility of attending sales and purchasing the necessary replacement siresfor the partnership's Hereford herd.
George married Mary Attwood at Nundah in Brisbane,· they had no children. Interestingly, Mary's sister, Nora, married Charlie Himstedt, George's cousin. George died in 1970 and at his funeral many tributes were paid to the couple's very considerable financial support for the camp for disadvantaged children just out of Linville. Mary survived him and was in a nursing home in the Scarborough area. |
