Daughter of William and Ann The Tumut and Adelong Times (NSW : 1864 - 1867; 1899 - 1950) Fri 28 Apr 1922 Death of Miss Egan. We regret to announce the death on Sunday last of Miss Margaret Egan, daughter of Mrs. Egan and the late Mr. Wm. Egan, of Gocup. The unfortunate lady had been an invalid for a long time past, suffering from an internal complaint, but she bore her trials with great fortitude, and received most careful and kind attention at the hands of members of the household. An operation was performed on the sufferer some time back, at Dr. McCormick's private hospital, but it proved of no avail. The deceased, who was 59 years of age at the time of her death, belonged to one of the oldest and most highly respected families of this district, and spent the whole of her life here.Her aged mother, we are sorry to state, is at present in a very weak state of health, and the affliction of being bereaved of her much loved daughter will assuredly add to her feebleness. We extend to her and members of the family sincerest of sympathy over the mournful event. The funeral, which was largely attended, look place on Monday last, the remains being interred alongside those of the father, many years deceaced. Rev. Father Sharkey, assisted by Rev. Fr. Treacy of Gundagai, performed, the last sad obsequies at the grave-side, and Mr. H.Baker attended to the duties of undertaker. |
