The late Mr Meizner had been a resident of Bowen for nearly 45 years, having arrived here in 1864. Mr Meizner, who would have been 75 years of age next April, has left a widow, who is now over 70. The descendants of the deceased pioneer are: — Seven children (five daughters and two sons) all married, 33 grandchildren; and three great-grand-children, the last mentioned being Mrs Thomas Barton's two children, and the infant son of Mr Alfred Darwen.

For many years past he had been employed on Pretty Bend Station and lattery at Mr Atherton’s station Belmore Downs, from which place he was brought in on Wednesday last in the State Coal Mine motor car, in a very low state. He was a member of the Oddfellows Lodge, which he joined at the age of 17 years, several leading members of which; paid their last respects to their departed brother. The funeral took place at 4 o’clock yesterday, and was well attended, many old friends being among those present, Rev. Eymer (Church of England), performed the last sad rites of the Church and P.G.M. Bro. J. B. Kelly read the Lodge burial service. He leaves two sons, an aged mother, a brother and 5 sisters to mourn their loss.
