Mr. Braby, who resided at Gibson Street, Irvingdale Estate. was assisting to beat out a grass fire on a neighbour's property when he collapsed and died. Deceased, who was 57 years of age accompanied his parents to Ayr from Mackay when a child of two and he had lived In the Ayr district ever since. Mr. Braby's name will always be associated with Alva Beach township. He built a kiosk and a few huts there and worked hard to improve the area. Now, there are over 50 cottages at Alva. Deceased had not enjoyed the best of health for some time, but his end was most unexpected and came as a shock to the community. He is survived by his widow, a brother, Mr. Martin Braby (Proserpine)- and four sisters Mrs. Barton (Inkerman), Mrs. Tuner (Brisbane). Mrs. Saxby (Ayr) and Mrs. Sadler (Lucinda Point).
