THE LATE MR.SIMEON LORD. There passed away at his residence, Mowbray-street, East Brisbane, On July 12, a well-known identity of the early, pastoral days of Queensland—Mr.Simeon Fitzherbert Lord. The late Mr. Lord, was born in Tasmania, and was the youngest son of Mr. Simeon Lord, who has bequeathed a name well known in the pastoral history of Queensland. He came to Queensland with his parents when a boy, and after putting in some years on stations took over the management of Culloden Station for his father on January 1, 1885. He entered into partnership with his father and his two brothers, Mr. Francis Lord- and the late Mr. Frederick Lord, under the name Simeon Lord and Sons, carrying on pastoral pursuits at the well-known Eskdale station. This partnership continued for the last 31 years. Of the partners, only one, Mr. Francis Lord, survives, and he has reached the ripe age of 84 years. The late Mr. S. F. Lord was very well known at Southport, where for years he owned some fine oyster banks and carried on a lucrative business. He leaves a widow and two daughters (Mrs. Webster and Miss. Evelyn Lord). |

The death is announced from Brisbane of an identity of the early pastoral days of Queensland-Mr. Simeon Fitzherbert Lord. The late Mr. Lord was born in Tasmania, and was the youngest son of Mr. Simeon Lord, who was well known in the pastoral history of Queensland.- The deceased gentleman entered into partnership with his father and his two brothers, Mr. Francis Lord and the late Mr. Frederick Lord. under the name of Simeon Lord and Sons, and carried on pastoral pursuits at the well-known Eskdale station. This, partner, ship continued for 31 years. |
