The Daylesford Herald's 6th December, 1899 report of Dinah's death
Some journalistic inaccuracies are evident when this account is compared to the Magisterial Inquiry.
Deputy Coroner Sainsbury found that Dinah died on 4th December. He heard during his Inquiry that the instrument used was a small pocket knife.

Transcript of Deputy Coroner Sainsbury, inquiring into Dinah's death in Dec 1899
"A MAGISTERIAL INQUIRY on behalf of Our Sovereign Lady the Queen. Taken at Smiths Creek Daylesford in the Midland Bailiwick of Victoria, this Seventh day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and ninety-nine before the undersigned Henry H Sainsbury Esquire, one of Her Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said Bailiwick, upon view of the body of Diana Trisise then and there lying dead.
Having duly inquired when, where, how, and by what means the said Diana Tresise came by her death, I say that the said Diana Tresise died at Daylesford in the said Bailiwick on the Fourth day of December 1899 from a wound in the throat – self-inflicted – whilst temporaly insane
As witness my hand this Seventh day of December 1899
Henry H Sainsbury JP"

The Daylesford Herald's 26th June, 1903 report of Richard's death. The report accounts only three surviving children.
The newspaper may not have been aware of daughter Mary Catherine, 37, married to John Henry Webb and probably living in Queensland. The children of whom it was aware most likely were
Ellen (Ella) Maude, 44, married to Joseph Patrick Hanley and living in Melbourne,
William Wallis, 43, married to Annie Rosina Silbereisen and living in Tasmania, and, of course,
Jane Ann, 35, married to William John Smith and living in nearby Leitche's Creek.
"Another old resident in the person of Mr. Richard Tresise, of Smith's Creek, died yesterday at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr.W.J.Smith, Leitche's Creek. Mr Tresise was associated with mining pursuits in his earlier career here, and followed his avocation of a blacksmith in connection with the mines. The deceased leaves two daughters and one son, as far as we are aware. The interment will take place this morning."

Personal Notes:
http://martynsmith.info/famweb/rjtdp.htm
William Wallis TRESISE (ninth), according to the registration of his death, was born at Gordon (near Mt Egerton) and married Annie Rosina SILBEREISEN at New Norfolk, Tasmania at the turn of the century. It is recorded that William lived in Tasmania for some forty years. The Marriage Register of St Matthew's Church of England, New Norfolk, confirms the death registration information, adding that William (41) and Annie (34) were married on 31 December, 1900. William died, recorded as a sixty-four year-old mine manager, in 1924 at Prahran, Victoria. Largely through the efforts of William's and Annie's third eldest son, William Richard, the first Australian Lions Club was formed in the northern New South Wales town of Lismore in July, 1947. Acknowledgement of William's extensive work for Lions is recorded online. He was made a Member of the British Empire for his services to the community.
