GRIMSHAW.—On the 8th January, at Seddon, Annie, dearly beloved wife of Walter, loving mother of George, Walter and Tom. A resident for 65 years. Williamstown Chronicle 13 Jan 1923 A NATIVE OF THIS CITY. Some 66 years ago Mrs. Annie Grim shaw was born in Thompson-street, her father being in early business in that thoroughfare. Miss Stewart married Mr. Walter Grimshaw, of the Victorian Railways Department, now retired. His son, also named Walter, is an offcer of the railways. Mrs. Grimshaw.died at 95 Williamstown-road, West Footscray, on the 8th inst. The funeral took place on Tuesday last, under the charge of Mr. E. W. Jacksori and the Rev. J. H. Goble (Footscray Baptist Church) read the burial service.

MR. JOHN STEWART. The death of Mr. John Stewart, a native of Williamstown, took place at Thornbury on Saturday, 7th inst., after a short illness, at the age of 64 years. Until re cently, Mr. Stewart had lived here, and was familiarly known in rail- way circles as a skilful steam crane driver, having driven the first steam crane at the old loco. works near the piers, .and later at the Newport Workshops, until his re- tirenient, four and a half years back. In conversation with a re- tired railway officer, our repre- sentative was informed that Mr. Stewart's skill and experience with steam cranes were very help- ful in connection with casualty break-down work, and the removal of old bridges and the erection of new bridges, necessarily carried out at night time, in a very limited time, between trains on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. Deceased leaves a widow and three daughters, one of whom is the wife of Mr. R. Stone. The funeral took place at the local cemetery on Monday, when a representative gathering of townsmen and railwaymen at- tended. The Rev. J. E. Higgin- botham conducted the service at the graveside, and the funeral ar- rangements were carried out by Mr. E. Jackson.. The pall-bearers were Messrs. R. Ferguson, J. Taylor, S. Butterfield, F. Raymer, J. Cameron, W. Henderson, E. Sanderson and F. Clarke.

R. C. STEWART. A well-known native of this city, Mr. Renwick Clark Stewart, died at the local hospital on Sunday morning last at the age of 57 years. Deceased was the son of the late William Stewart, a former well-known busi- ness man. The funeral, very largely attended, took place on Monday after- noon, leaving the residence of Mr. R. E. Crewes, 13 Cole-street, for inter- ment in the local necropolis. Ernest W. Jackson had charge of the funeral arrangements, and the Rev. S. B. Goble officiated at the cemetery.
