DEATH OF MR. FRANK FOORD. By the death of Mr. Frank Foord, which occurred at his residence, Merrivale-street, on January 29, in his 75th year, Tumut loses one of its oldest natives and a citizen of the fine old pioneering type. He was the son of the late Francis Foord, and married Miss Elizabeth Godfrey, daughter of the late George Godfrey sr, of Gocup, by which union there was issue one daughter, Gipsy (Mrs. Binger), both wife and daughter being left to mourn their loss. Mrs. Geo. Groves, Newtown, Sydney, Mrs. Thos Webb, Russell-st., Tumut, and Mrs. C. Pember, Newtown, Sydney, are deceased's sisters, and Messrs Percy (Pleasant Hills) and William (Tumut) are brothers. Deceased was a quiet unobtrusive man, who made many friends, but created no enemies. He possessed a great fund of information on many subjects, and there fore was an interesting conversationalist to those seeking information concerning the early history of the town and district. The funeral took place on Monday of last week, the remains being laid to rest in the Church of England portion of the Old Cemetery, Rev. T. A. Gair, the Rector, who officiated, making appropriate referenee to the life of deceased. Messrs Harry and Frank Foord (nephews), Israel and R. H. Hargreaves, Andrew Kell and Alan Munt were the coffinbearers. Messrs. Fuller and Burt conducted the mortuary duties.
